2017 Volunteer Registration Opens in June!

Creating the Healthy Driven Naperville Marathon and Half Marathon takes teamwork by our large group of fantastic volunteers. It’s fun, rewarding and you’ll have the satisfaction of helping thousands of runners meet their goal on race day.

All volunteers must agree to our volunteer Waiver, Guidelines, and Code of Conduct.

2017 Volunteer Areas and Descriptions

Check out the descriptions below for each volunteer area. To view the specific volunteer openings and requirements.

Note: Please check age requirements in the job description on the volunteer sign-up page before registering for a position. Some positions require volunteers 18 years of age or older.

ALL volunteers MUST be 14 years of age or older. Volunteers between the ages of 14-18 MUST be accompanied by an adult 21 years of age or older.

Course Marshal (MUST BE 18 or OLDER)

Sunday, October 22

Support the runners, spectators and community as a Course Marshal for the Naperville Marathon and Half Marathon!

Health & Fitness Expo

Thursday, October 19 – Saturday, October 21

Help us with the Health & Fitness Expo! Positions include Expo set-up, parking, and more! MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.

Race Day Parking

Sunday, October 22

LOCATION: Downtown Naperville

Help to monitor the parking lots around the race area or help direct runners at our runner drop-off area. MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.

Event Logistics

Saturday, October 21 or Sunday, October 22

LOCATION: Downtown Naperville, Various

Help us set up and/or tear down the start/finish and race village areas, join our trash collection team, or help deliver materials to our aid stations around the course.

Monday Clean-Up Crew

Monday, October 23

LOCATION: Multiple Locations

Help us keep Naperville beautiful by doing a clean sweep of the course and race village.

Packet Pick-Up

Friday, October 19 , Saturday, October 21, and Sunday, October 22

Help distribute bibs, shirts, gear bags, and more to our runners! MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.


Thursday, October 19 through Sunday, October 22

Help us keep our volunteers fed by providing food and drinks at the Expo and on race day or be a part of our “Ask Me” Team and be in “The Know”! You will be responsible for knowing the layout of the event and assisting Spectators, Volunteers, Runners, and Sponsors with their questions. Volunteers are also needed to help runners and spectators load our remote parking shuttles on race morning.


Race Village

Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22, A.M. and P.M. positions

LOCATION: Webster St. and Water St.

Help us set up the tents, barricades, signs and start/finish line on Saturday, or help us tear it all down again on Sunday afternoon. Keep the Village running by helping manage trash, distribute food and beverages to runners post-race or help with awards. We need a Village of Volunteers to run our Village!

Start/Finish Line

Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22

LOCATION: Webster St. and Water St.

Be a part of the action by volunteering at the Start/Finish Line. Positions include blankets, medals, water station and more!

Course Operations

Sunday, October 22

LOCATION: Multiple locations, Naperville, IL

Help keep things running along the course! Positions includes course/signage set-up and tear down, as well as Course Marshal opportunities. MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.

Gear Check

Sunday, October 22
LOCATION: Webster St. and Water St.

Collect gear bags at Gear Check from runners before the race starts and return gear to runners after they finish. MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.
